Warren Center receives $10,000 from the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation to support center programming
BANGOR, ME – The Warren Center is the recipient of an unrestricted $10,000 grant from the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation to support the work of the center.
“Unrestricted donations, as the one from the Sewall Foundation,” says
Mary Poulin Administrative Director, “allow us to use the money in areas
that we need it most. It is a rare and generous gift that allows the center to
provide services to vulnerable members of our community.”
The Warren Center was founded by the Junior League of Bangor in 1961 as
the Bangor Regional Speech and Hearing Center after a measles epidemic
hit Central
Maine in the 1950’s, leaving many children deaf or hard of hearing.
Last year more than 1,800 infants, children, and adults throughout Greater
Bangor benefited from services provided by The Warren Center for Communication & Learning.
These services included speech therapy, audiology, a pragmatic skills group
for teens with Asperger’s, and a preschool that serves hard of hearing
and deaf children.
The center is grateful for the continued support of the Sewall Foundation
which has provided monetary support to the center since 1997.
