Individual

(As
a part
of
these
plans,
you
should
have
yearly
meetings
with
your

well
as
any

who
work
with
him
or
her).
If
you
have
any
questions
about
the

call
your

request

only
are

you

how
deaf

children
learn.
Here
are
two

I

Mittens
These
are the days of coats, and mittens.
At the Warren Center, you will
find colorful mittens in our
the lobby starting in December.
Our WINTER
WISH MITTEN program
is an easy way that anyone can
get involved in helping children
at the Warren Center.
The
center’s
speech pathologist use a variety
of toys, games, crafts, snacks
and other materials when providing therapy to children. We could use your help
by making an in-kind donation of these items. You can help the center save money
and continue to provide services to members in our community struggling with
speech and language issues.
Our
lobby will be decorated
with mittens, each with
an item that we could
use along with its approximate
cost and where to find
it.
It’s easy to help! Pick up a mitten at the center or find an item below,
buy the item that is listed, and bring it to the Warren Center.
All
donations to the Warren
Center are tax-deductible.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization.
For more information call center at 941-2850 or visit our website at warrencenter.org.
Thank
you to all those who
have helped in the past,
and those who plan to
help us this year.

Notes
from
the
Administrative
Director
by
Mary E. Poulin

This year
marked
the tenth
anniversary
of our
purchase
of our
home at
175 Union
Street
in Bangor.
We moved
into the
building
from a
rented
space less
than half
the size.
We didn’t
even furnish
some of
the rooms
for nearly
a year
after moving.
Due
to the faith
the community
has placed
in our
services,
we have
grown
over these ten
years
to the position
of now
being
quite overcrowded
at times.
In the
last
year we have
rented
place
in two other
locations
to accommodate
our programming.
Our audiology
program
was new
ten years
ago.
Today
we have
two very
busy
audiologists
using
two testing
booths.
Over
the
past
year
we have
set a
new
record
almost
every
month
for the
number
of new
referrals
received.
Some
days
it
is a
challenge
to
meet the demands
of
this growth,
but
that is a
good
problem
to
have. We would
like
to
say
thank you to
all
the clients,
physicians,
board
members,
community
members,
and
staff who have
made
this
growth
possible.

Ask
the
Audiologists
  How
do I
know
if I
need
new earmolds?
This
is one
of our
most
commonly
asked
questions.
Children
frequently
need
new earmolds
every
few months
or at
least
yearly
because
they
are growing.
Parents
might
notice
a gap
at the
back
of the
earmold
where
it fills
the bowl
portion
of the
ear,
this
is a
good
indication
that
a child
is ready
for a
new pair
of earmolds.
In
adults, although the ears will
continue to grow, the change
is more subtle. If the earmold
starts to feel loose in the
ear or if you are experiencing
more
feedback than what is normal for you its a good idea to check the fit of your
earmold with your audiologist.
Earmolds,
even those that are fitting
well, need tubing changes over
time. When the earmold tubing
becomes hard or difficult to
bend call your audiologist
for
an appointment to have the earmold retubed.
This is a great time of year to check and make sure your earmolds are fitting
before the cold weather sets in.
