Annual Giving

Gifts to the annual fund of the Warren Center help keep the doors open, the lights on, the bills paid and allow us to continue to do the work that we do. The fiscal year at the Warren Center is from July 1 to June 30. Gifts to the annual fund may be in the form of check, cash, paid with MasterCard or Visa, or through a gift-of-stock.

Gifts to the annual fund may be made in honor or memory of a loved one and are excellent ways to remember someone special. Givers to the annual fund are recognized in our annual report and on our website.

For more information on the annual fund, please contact the Warren Center public relations office at info@warrencenter.org.

Volunteer

f you have a little time to spare, the Warren Center would love to have some of it! We usually need help making therapy materials, keeping the toys in the office clean and sometimes would love to have someone to watch children in the lobby during our busiest hours.

Please give us a call or email info@warrencenter.org for Warren Center volunteer opportunities.

For more opportunities please check out the United Way of Eastern Maine's volunteer web site that matches volunteers with organizations which are seeking help.

Bequests

You can continue to help the Warren Center's future by considering planned giving.

Ten Ways to Leave a Legacy

1.Leave a gift in your will for the nonprofit and charitable organizations, such as the Warren Center, that made a difference in your life. Imagine the positive impact on our community if everyone made a donation to a favorite nonprofit.
2.Prepare a will! Only 50% of those who pass away have one. Without a will, you may lose control over your belongings.
3.Leave a specific dollar amount or a percentage of the assets in your will to the nonprofit of your choice, such as the Warren Center.
4.Consider using assets for your charitable gift. These include but aren't limited to: stocks, bonds, CDs, real estate, vehicles, art and jewelry. Such gifts may even provide tax savings.
5.Name the nonprofit, such as the Warren Center, as the beneficiary of your pension plan or IRA.
6.Purchase a new life insurance policy naming your favorite nonprofit as the beneficiary.
7.Name your favorite nonprofit as the beneficiary of an existing live insurance policy.
8.Remember loved ones with memorial gifts.
9.Encourage family and friends to leave gifts to nonprofits, such as the Warren Center, in their wills.
10.Ask your financial advisor to include charitable giving as part of counsel to clients.

You may wish to contact the Maine Planned Giving Council for more information.

Appreciated Securities

Consider making a charitable gift of your stocks and securities. If you have appreciated securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) that you have held in value for at least one year, you may want to consider contributing them as a gift to the Warren Center. It's a generous and smart way to invest in our community.

Some of the benefits of gifts of stock are:

Avoid capital gains taxes
By contributing securities that have appreciated in value, you avoid the capital gains taxes you would otherwise owe if you sold the securities for your personal benefit.

Take a charitable tax deduction
For federal income tax purposes (including alternative minimum tax purposes), you can deduct the value of the securities on the date of your contribution. The net value of your contribution is the average between the high-and low-quoted selling price on the date that the securities passed from your control. Your gift will be acknowledged in writing by the Warren Center for tax purposes.

Give a larger gift
A gift of stock may allow you to make a larger charitable contribution than would be possible with cash or other means.

Matching Gifts

Many organizations and companies have matching gift programs designed to increase their members' or employees' ability to contribute to a charity. Check with your company about this as an option. If your company has a matching gift program, simply include the appropriate forms with your gift. You will be given recognition for the full value of both gifts.

BACK

Endowment

Creating an endowment fund in tribute of family, friends, a business or other relationships is an excellent option for continuing support. Endowments may be named in honor of an individual and will continue to generate income supporting the service you choose.

Please contact the Warren Center if you are interested in creating an endowment.

Gifts In-Kind

Gifts in-Kind are always helpful! They let us free up some of what's in the budget allowing us opportunities to put those funds towards program and unexpected needs.

Generally we need snacks for group therapy (Goldfish and dry cereals are excellent) kool-aid, paper cups, plates, napkins, crayons, construction paper, glues, glitter and other "crafty" items are appreciated.

If you have office equipment, please give us a call. All inquiries can be made at 941-2850.

Sometimes we let you know our needs right in the office with things like our Winter Wish Mittens. For the other times, our wish list is available here.

The Warren Center Wish List

Why come to Bangor, Maine for work?

Because the play is so much more fun than anywhere else!

The Warren Center is located in Maine’s Queen City, Bangor. First settled in 1769, the city has grown to its current population of about 60,000 people. Bangor has retained the charm which drew people to it during the height of its glory in the logging days. Historic Victorian homes still dominate its waterfront and city streets - the Warren Center is located in one of the city’s historic districts, next to the historical society building and beautiful Isaac Farrar Mansion, owned and maintained by the YWCA.

We are approximately an hour’s drive from the rugged coast of Acadia National Park, and only one and a half hours from Baxter State Park and the highest point of Maine’s Appalachian Trail. The area is richly forested and scenic. Lakes, rivers and streams provide countless opportunities for fishing, canoeing, kayaking and whitewater rafting while the thick forest is perfect for hiking, hunting and camping. Of course, skiing, sailing, golf, leaf-peeping, apple picking and sledding (especially on Bangor’s dramatic Essex Street Hill) are all activities to look forward to.

Bangor is home to the nation’s oldest symphony, has a dynamic arts community, including an annual outdoor summer Shakespeare festival, year-round professional theatre, sports events and entertainment at the Bangor Civic Center and the Maine Center for the Performing Arts, on the University of Maine’s flagship campus in nearby Orono. Bangor is home to many art galleries and fine restaurants offering a range of cuisine from fish and chips and peppersteaks to tapas and modern fusion cuisine. In addition, there are Thai, Indian, Pakistani, Italian, Greek, Chinese, Mexican and Japanese specialty restaurants right in town, several within walking distance of the Warren Center in Bangor’s charming downtown.
